The project locates at the east end of Vanke Holiday Town in the southwestern suburban area of Shanghai. Serving a 600,000 sqm residential district, the community center contains various functions including retail, restaurant, market, post-office, police, community services, soho and so on.
While massaging the complexity of all the uses, the building poses a positive and influential gesture on organizing the exterior spaces of its own environment and the surrounding urbanscape, so as to offer people an efficient and comfortable public place in this tight site. Here we pursue simple languages for architecture form, so as to realize a low budget of the project while having a clear spatial expression.
